The addition to Brookville Road Community Church included over 33,000 sf to house a new Family Life Center, Fellowship Hall, Offices, Reception Area, Classrooms, Kitchen, Nursery, Children’s “Playland”, Mezzanine, Bathrooms and Storage.
The addition was originally designed in early 2001; therefore the owners and T&W had limited involvement with the original architect. Consequently, the project took on a hybrid ‘design-build’ nature. T&W saw this as an opportunity to facilitate alternate details and materials to improve the finished product.
A stunning exterior was the focus; brick & stone veneer, standing seam roof, decorative EIFS frieze and entry columns, all built to complement the two 30’ spires mounted on modified octagonal portions of the building.
The church was committed to pay for the project with the funds at-hand, hence, T&W’s contract scope of work was to construct the entire addition and complete the exterior only. Phasing budgets were developed so the church would have the flexibility to finish out the portions of the new building as the resources came in. T&W also coordinated with the church designer and direct contractors to provide them with an attractive and functional facility.
Weather proved to be a key challenge on this project. With the bulk of construction running through a wet spring and an unusually snowy winter, conditions proved to be less than amicable. Nonetheless, T&W’s superintendent and contractors endured the weather and provided the Owners with an excellent facility.
Completed 2003
